Artist Portraits - Tattoo Artist - Inkseeker - The Process
Portrait of an Artist on digital and film. International tattoo artist Eric (Ink Seeker)
THE PROCESS (Shot on Digital, 35mm & Medium Format Film)
Process is what we are all chasing today. In 2026, art is subject to the process, and we see so much of the product that we yearn to see the struggle and mess of the creative process. It's irreplaceable, messy, human... If we're honest, it's the part AI wants to skip, but the part we revel in most as artists.
And in the last photo, you can see that it takes a team... a community to make something more than the algorithmic average. Thanks to Joanne, Shang, and Pablo for the collaboration!
Eric needed a library of portraits for press, website, and social media. He is moving to a popular studio, Bang Bang in NYC, and needs a lot of imagery to share, which ranges from personal to promotional.
Eric's art blends the old and the new, a modern interpretation of ancient art and techniques, so I knew I wanted to do a mix of medium format and 35mm film with digital to give his portraits some range and authenticity, honoring his perspective of welcoming the past and present.
Working with artists is a lot of fun, but it's also a lot of pressure. You want to collaborate to give them portraits they love, with just enough of your art to make them feel special, like a new art piece we create together.
There are layers to an artist's work, so I wanted to share a series of portraits that capture layers of who we are: the Artist, the Process, the Person, and the Art. I wanted to share each of these perspectives in context, continuing with The Process:
