Artist Portraits - Tattoo Artist - Inkseeker - The Art

Portrait of an Artist on digital and film. International tattoo artist Eric (Ink Seeker)

Part 4: THE ART

The Person: Portrait of an Artist on digital and film. International tattoo artist Eric (Ink Seeker). 4/4 - THE ART (Shot on 35mm & Medium Format Film)

Of all the art forms, Tattooing may be one of the most intimate and connected between art and artist.

It’s one thing for a photographer to take a photo of a person and elicit intimacy and honesty, but that photo doesn’t live on the client and become a part of the client’s skin.

As part of my portrait session with Eric (InkSeeker), I was lucky to have two of his tattoo clients join us for the photoshoot and to photograph the art with the artist.  It was a remarkable opportunity to work with the artist and to experience the relationship between the artist and their work.

Thank you, Joanna and Sheng, for sharing your art and creativity with me as well!

Eric is such a kind and creative soul. I was honored to share space with him and create these photos!

Eric needed a library of portraits for press, website, and social media. He is moving to a popular studio, Bang Bang in NYC, and needs a variety of imagery to share, which ranges from personal to promotional.

Eric's art blends the old and the new, a modern interpretation of ancient art and techniques, so I knew I wanted to do a mix of medium format and 35mm film with digital to give his portraits some range and authenticity, honoring his perspective of welcoming the past and present.

There are layers to an artist's work, so I wanted to share a series of portraits that capture layers of who we are: the Artist, the Process, the Person, and the Art.
