Director & DOP - “Un Amor Asi” Music Video for The FO’s

When the band comes to you to do a new music video for their new song, and they want to play the piano in the rain… You know it’s going to be a good day! This is another beautiful, introverted song, and it was fun to work with Fernando and the band to translate it into images and create a viewing experience for the song.

When thinking through my ideas and vision for the video, I knew I wanted some cool, sexy water shots, but if you know me, you know I’m going to bring some reflections to the shoot! We wanted a real piano and real water to create a real feeling for Fer and for the audience, and we didn’t want to rely on effects or AI to add these elements in post-production.

The cool thing about working with water is that you have so many cool options: you have cool reflections from light on the water, you have the reflections on the water, the light reflecting off the falling water, and I love the way the feel of the water can change based on the shutter angle/frame rates. It’s endlessly fascinating to play with water within the frame.

Luckily, we were able to find an old keyboard on Wallapop that was no longer working, and I was glad to be able to take advantage of the new rain stage at Los Nombres Estudios in Madrid so that we could film everything live and make something really cool together!
